This is a pretty old file that I updated recently, and with the state of lighting departments in Hollywood these days, I figured why not share it.

What this filter does is basically strip the original image of most of its post-process yellow so you can recolor the image in layers. This way, people look less like gru's minions but you still retain the original image's dramatic lighting. If you want the "lighter" area to be wider in your final icon, I suggest applying the filter first, flattening the image or merging it with a base image layer, and then cropping from there.

This was made with Adobe Photoshop, and you may need to be familiar with PS already to work it, but if you have any questions just ask and I'll try to answer the best I can. Enjoy!
